Role Overview

As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in assessing, planning, and implementing rehabilitation programs for older adults recovering from illness, injury, or surgery. Your expertise will help enhance patients’ quality of life and promote independence in a hospital rehabilitation setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on functional independence.
  • Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Teams, including Physiotherapists, Nurses, and Medical Staff.
  • Lead discharge planning, ensuring a smooth transition back to home or community settings.
  • Provide manual handling and equipment recommendations to enhance patient mobility and safety.
  • Supervise and mentor junior Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with best practice standards.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on rehabilitation techniques and adaptive strategies.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • CORU Registration (Full & Active)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience (preferably in an elderly care rehabilitation acute setting)
  • Experience working with neurological conditions, frailty, and complex rehabilitation needs
  • Highly developed physical skills relevant to the clinical area.
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Ability to manage a clinical caseload
  • Ability to cope under pressure demonstrating resilience
  • Adaptive team player
  • Proven ability to supervise junior Occupational Therapists and contribute to service development
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
